Vivian Health alternatives for hospitals, health systems and staffing agencies

Vivian Health is a healthcare job marketplace. Clinicians search and apply; employers post roles, get matched to "work-ready candidates" and "chat directly with engaged candidates". The employer site describes "200,000 unique users" performing job searches each month, access to "1.8M+ clinicians within the Vivian talent pool" (the homepage says "over 2.8 million highly engaged healthcare professionals"), candidates "pre-screened based on Role Type, Availability & Licensure", a "Healthcare Specific Universal Profile" with work experience, licenses and certifications that can be pushed to your ATS, and an AI Assistant that "engages candidates 24/7, screens them against role requirements, preps them for submission, and then hands them off to recruiters". It serves direct employers and staffing agencies across permanent, travel, local contract and per diem roles. Pricing is not published.

Employers look for alternatives for four reasons: the clinicians they need are not searching any job board and must be sourced outbound; they want a marketplace built only for permanent hires, with AI-run first interviews; they want a travel or per diem vendor that also employs, credentials and pays the clinician; or they want the marketplace inside a full workforce platform (VMS, scheduling, open-shift management). Every fact below comes from the vendor's own site on the date shown.

1. Betterleap: outbound sourcing when the clinician is not on a job board

A marketplace can only show you people who signed up and are searching. Betterleap reaches the rest. A recruiter describes the role in plain language; the agent searches 35M+ healthcare professionals, checks licensure through 25+ state board partnerships, writes a personalized multi-step email sequence, sends it from the recruiter's own mailbox and follows up until candidates reply. It also re-engages the past applicants and silver medalists already in your ATS (25+ integrations) after refreshing their contact data. References: Beebe Healthcare (91% contact match rate, 77% candidate response rate via chat), Community Health Network (35% increase in sourcing efficiency, about ten hours a week saved per recruiter) and FOX Rehabilitation (five or more new markets entered with no prior pipeline). Betterleap is for permanent hiring; it does not staff travel or per diem assignments, and it does not run interviews.

2. Incredible Health: the permanent-only marketplace with AI interviews

The closest inbound alternative for permanent roles. Incredible Health describes itself as "the largest software and AI-enabled career marketplace for permanent healthcare workers", "100% specialized for healthcare only", connecting "1,500+ US healthcare employers and 1.5M US healthcare professionals" with a "2 week go-live" and Workday Innovation Partner status. Its AI voice agent Lyn "interviews and sells to candidates across every job category, 24/7, with a 96% candidate satisfaction score". Published customer results include Johns Hopkins Health System going "from 95 days to 21 days for permanent specialty hires", Montefiore Health System saving "$3.8M on premium labor in the first year" and Providence Health doubling permanent placements across 51 hospitals. Unlike Vivian it does not cover travel, local contract or per diem. See also Incredible Health alternatives.

3. Nomad Health: a travel marketplace that employs the traveler

If most of your Vivian volume is travel contracts, Nomad Health is a direct alternative that is also the employer of record. Facilities "post open positions" on its job marketplace, "review submissions" in one dashboard and "extend offers" and extensions "with a single click", with an "automatic matching feature" and each applicant's "experience, licensure, and credentials all in one place". Nomad reports "300K+ registered Nomad clinicians", "50 states served" and "95% on time starts", covers "50+ travel nursing and allied health specialties", and holds The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Travel Nursing Accreditation. It does not offer permanent placement or outbound sourcing.

4. Aya Healthcare: the marketplace inside a workforce platform

Aya positions itself as "healthcare's largest talent marketplace" and sells it alongside workforce software: LotusOne ("the most features of any VMS"), Workforce AI for demand forecasting, the Shifts app for "app-based open shift management", and CoreHire, a "complete permanent hiring solution" with "unlimited job postings, advanced digital marketing and a centralized platform to manage applications". Its nursing and allied marketplace reports "1.2M+ monthly job views", "115K+ monthly self submissions" and "158K+ monthly active candidates", and the Aya Index listed 15,356 open jobs as of 21 September 2026. Staffing services span travel, local contract, per diem, permanent, locums, interim leadership and managed service provider programs. Choose Aya when you want one vendor for contingent labor and the software that manages it; CoreHire is a posting and applicant-management tool, not outbound sourcing.

5. Nursa: per diem shifts with facility-set pricing

For coverage rather than hires, Nursa is a PRN marketplace with "over 500,000 local, verified clinicians" and "a nationwide pool of 400K+ RNs, LPNs, and CNAs", used by "4,500+ facilities" in "31 states and counting". Clinicians work under a 1099 model: "you set the pay rate, approve costs upfront, and only pay when a shift is completed", with "no hire-away fees" if you bring a clinician onto your full-time team. Every clinician is "license-verified and background-checked", the platform includes internal scheduling and compliance tooling (it "automatically generates CDPH Form 530s" for California facilities), and facilities can also post full-time roles. It is a shift marketplace first; permanent recruiting is a side channel.

How to choose

  • The nurses or therapists you need are not applying anywhere: outbound sourcing with licensure verification, Betterleap.
  • You hire permanent staff only and want pre-vetted candidates plus AI-run first interviews: Incredible Health.
  • You need travel nurses and want the vendor to employ and credential them: Nomad Health, or Aya for a managed program.
  • You want a VMS, scheduling and open-shift management with the marketplace attached: Aya.
  • You need shifts covered this week and want to set the rate yourself: Nursa.
  • You want inbound candidates across permanent, travel, local contract and per diem on one marketplace: Vivian remains the fit.

Betterleap works alongside any of these: the marketplaces bring the candidates who are already looking, Betterleap finds the ones who are not. To see outbound healthcare sourcing on your own requisitions, request a demo. For a broader tool-by-tool survey, see the best healthcare recruiting tools.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vivian Health a sourcing tool?

No. Vivian is an inbound job marketplace: clinicians search and apply, employers post roles and engage the candidates who match. Reaching clinicians who are not searching any job board is outbound sourcing, which is what Betterleap does.

What is the best Vivian Health alternative for permanent nurse hiring?

Incredible Health is the closest inbound alternative, a marketplace built only for permanent healthcare workers with an AI voice interview agent. Betterleap is the outbound alternative, sourcing licensed clinicians who never signed up anywhere and re-engaging past applicants in your ATS.

What is the best Vivian Health alternative for travel nurses?

Nomad Health runs a travel marketplace and employs the traveler itself, with Joint Commission accreditation for travel nursing. Aya Healthcare offers travel staffing inside a managed program with its own VMS.

Does Vivian Health publish pricing?

Not on its employer website. Neither do Incredible Health, Nomad Health, Aya Healthcare or Betterleap. Nursa lets the facility set the pay rate and approve the price of each shift before posting it.

Is Trusted Health an alternative to Vivian for employers?

Only for staffing operations. Trusted Health's site addresses clinicians ("Get matched to flexible jobs"; Trusted is the clinician's employer) and its employer link goes to Works, "intelligent staffing and scheduling for hospitals & health systems": demand forecasting, schedule optimization and open-shift automation, not a candidate marketplace.
